Praia de Alvor stretches for almost 5 km between the mouth of the Alvor estuary and Praia do Vau, a wide flat band of sand almost without cliffs — unusual for the Algarve coast. The landscape alternates between low dunes and the protected wetlands of the estuary, part of a local Nature Reserve.
Light sand, usually calm sea, sandy seabed without rocks. Popular for long beach walks and as a launching point for boat tours of the Alvor estuary. Main access points at Quatro Águas and through Alvor village centre. Free parking near the entrances.
