Praia do Carvoeiro is the central beach of the village of the same name, set in a small cove framed by pale-yellow cliffs. The village retains traces of its fishing-village past, with whitewashed houses stepping down to the sand.
The beach itself is small and very busy in July-August. Access via stairways down the side or directly via the pedestrian street through the village centre. Restaurants and bars line the entire front, giving it a lively atmosphere in the evening. Popular departure point for boat trips to nearby caves, especially Benagil. Blue Flag-certified.
