Salema Beach

Praia da Salema is one of the few Algarve beaches where traditional fishing is still visible: small boats hauled directly onto the sand, drying nets, daily morning fish auctions on the beach. The fishing village, set between two cliffs, retains a human scale and a distinct atmosphere from the more developed central Algarve coast.

Medium-sized sand with a rocky end, and classified dinosaur footprints (a Natural Monument) on the adjacent Praia da Boca do Rio. Sea usually calm. About 17 km west of Lagos, off the main central-Algarve tourist circuit.
