Praia dos Supertubos is one of Europe's most internationally recognised surf beaches, known for fast, tubular waves that break over sandbanks — a feature rare on the European coast and comparable to spots in Hawaii. The name came from local surfers in the 1980s after this characteristic.
The beach has hosted the WSL Championship Tour event (MEO Rip Curl Pro Portugal) for over a decade. Medium-sized beach with no significant urban support, road access from Peniche with parking on the sand. Casual swimming is discouraged given the heavy break.
