Praia de Tróia occupies the northern tip of the Tróia peninsula, 25 minutes by boat across the Sado estuary from Setúbal. The sand is wide, flat and white, extending in a continuous arc south through Carvalhal to Comporta — over 60 km of unbroken coast. The estuary separation has kept development pressure relatively low.
West-facing Atlantic sea with moderate surf. Water is usually clean, with bottlenose dolphin sightings common on the ferry crossing. Reach it via the passenger catamaran or roll-on ferry from Setúbal; alternative road access via Comporta and the A2 motorway.
